Recipient of the "Library of Excellence" Award for the state of Michigan in 2002, this library is the first library in Michigan to be located in a busy mall. This branch library draws patrons to utilize one of the 14 computers, pick up books brought in from other locations, or just to have a cup of coffee and read newspapers and magazines.
Unlike other library interiors, this library's interior finishes are designed to be a little more bold, yet quieting so that it will be a welcome respite in the midst of the mall's multitude of storefronts. Deep plum with contrasting bright colors in art forms and upholstery fabrics lend the upbeat flair required while incorporating themselves with the timeless design of the circulation desk and furnishings.
